Paryushan Day 8 Report

Today is the last day of Derawasi Paryushan – a day for begging each other's forgiveness (Samvantsari)

Return of Parna

The family of Divyakant Mazni brought the parnu and sapnas to Kenton Road Derasar at 10:30 this morning. They were greeted by a crowd of more than 150 people. Pokva ceremony was done in the Derasar Courtyard and this was followed by chanting of Jain slogans and Garba in the courtyard.

There was samuh chaityavandan led by Ashishbhai from India . He sang three beautiful stavans during the chaityavandan. This was followed by samuh arti and mangal divo.

No formal lecture was planned today, but due to popular demand he gave a short lecture on Manglik and on Kshamapna.

Samvantsari Pratikraman

Today's Samvantsari pratikraman was sponsored by two parties – Dr Gyandav Sheth & Family (£501) and Late Mrs Labhkuverben Raichand Mehta & Family (Rohit Mehta) and representatives from both the parties started the pratikraman with three Navkars.

The pratikraman, which started at 4:30 pm and finished at 7:15 pm, was conducted by Jainil Ketan Shah , a young teacher from Chand na Vidyapeeth and Prabhudasbhai Shah – Atichar was recited by Kaushik Khajuria. More than 600 people did the pratikraman. The Hall was packed and there was very little room for those who came late.

Young mothers (and others), who could not do the 4:00 pm pratikraman because of baby sitting and other problems, performed the Samvantsari Pratikraman at the Kenton Derasar at 12 noon. Some 30 ladies performed this Pratikraman which was conducted by Sarojben Dipendra Shah. Mahavir Foundation is grateful to Sarojben.

Arti/Mangal Divo

There were no utchhavnis for ‘samuh' arti/mangal divo.

Prabhavna

Today's prabhavna of Uvasagaram mala and pendo was from Rasilaben Prabhudas Shah & family. There were other prabhavnas of ladvo, pendo and sato.

· Swamivatsalya: This will be held at the Kingsbury High School on Sunday 7th October and will follow Rushabhdev Poojan which will start at 10:00 am. There is a nakro of £21 for those who wish to participate in this Poojan – poooja kapda preferred but not mandatory. The dinner this year is in the memory of Late Lilamgauri Prabhudas Rajpal Kothary and has been fully sponsored by the Kothary family (Mahendra, Kirit, Narendra & Praful Kothary).
